Okay, it is Tuesday and not Friday. Sometimes life happens apart from our best laid plans. I caught a cold the first day of fall break-so following my own advice to call it a "Plot Twist" I made some tasty chicken noodle soup and have been laying low. The cold is not that bad, but I do feel tired most of the time. This is an especially busy time at work-most of the time I have some free time to use, but right now we are in the midst of both our international campaigns involving 32 schools around the world and our Pan-Starrs campaign which means I am processing close to a hundred reports a day from another batch of students around the world. Our students send in reports with their observations and I check to see if they have made any new discoveries of asteroids against our database and then enter information into reports that are submitted to the Minor Planet Center. I had not realized how much on count on my free times at work to do my writing. When I come home in the evenings on work days I am finding it hard to want to do much of anything that involoves thought. Today I am finding it hard not to be distracted from the zillion little things in my inbox that I had not gotten to. Fun to do, but not very productive. One of the neat things I chased down was some new functionality for the website. All of the Bible verse citations will now pop up with that verse to read if you hover your mouse over it. Like this: Psalm 119:1-2. As an added feature you can also find "Bible Options" on the sidebar of my Sitting At His Feet page. Here you can choose which version of the Bible you want to see displayed. There are several options avaiable and I like that you have these translations at your fingertips as it can be helpful to read a verse in more than one translation to gain insight into it. You can even save your preference so that your preferred version is used whenever you visit my site. How cool is that! New on the site: Psalm 119:13-14 Psalm 119:15-16 Some of my favorites around the web this week seem to have a theme. How to Be Better Bereans- Kevin DeYoung has writtten a great series on what it means to be a Berean in the church today. (Acts 17:10-11) How to Be Better Bereans -Part 2 How to Be Better Bereans -Part 3 Past or John Piper - The Bible isn't Boring... Halloween or the Lord's Day-I think this is an area where Cristians in good conscience can disagree. Michael Ives has written a thought provoking piece here and I like particularly like this thought: "For a Christian, everything is fair game for re-examination under the Word of God. I fear that too often, we are looking for tailor-made arguments to suit our conclusions. We must not trust, but ever examine ourselves and let the light of God’s Word shine on even our most cherished practices." Now this one has nothing to do with the theme of the others. Ken Davis has long been one of my favorite comedians. Enjoy. Blessings!
