I have fallen down on the job this week, that is, the writing that I like to do. It has been encouraging ot hear from others bloggers that our blogs take a back seat to our families. I thought that once my babies left the nest I would no longer have these sort of issues. Well, you are never to old to have your children still need you. Sometimes they need you in the middle of the night and that can leave you starting your day already tired. Such has been life these past couple of weeks.
I have an interesting birthday: 9-11. When you tell people they are so apologetic. It can feel awkward. This year I spent part of my morning talking with anew friend who was in NYC on that day, who has first hand accounts and photos still on her phone that she took that day. It still hits her hard; these anniversaries. We do not know what tomorrow brings. In the blink of an eye everything can change. Today I have a friend who had a pretty routine procedure done and is now in ICU in critical condition. There are no guarantees in this life, well, one for most of us...we will all die eventually. I am feeling more and more pressed not to let this day pass without asking you a very important question. Who do you say Jesus is? Jesus Himself asked this question of the disciples. It is a very important question and I put it to you today. Is Jesus a prophet? A good teacher? A man to pattern our lives after? Who so you say He is? If like Simon Peter you say, Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, then blessed are you. Our eternal lives hinge on the answer to that question. Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, He said He was the way and the truth and the life. He said that no one would go to God the Father apart from Him. Where do you stand with Him today? Tomorrow is not guaranteed, tomorrow may be too late. You have to decide today, while you still have breath. All of my tomorrows are secure for I belong to Christ, I know that when I breath my last on earth I will take my first breath in the presence of God, and my life with Him will continue eternally. No more sorrow, no more pain, no more sickness. One of my favorite Christian artists when I was in college was a woman named Pam Mark Hall. She wrote a song based upon these verses. I no longer have the album but see where tow of her albums have been remastered. So I am doing this from memory, a memory that is not as great as it used to be. Who do you say I am? Now that the blind man can see... Now that the cripple can leap... Now that the leper is clean. Who do you say I am? You've seen the power in me hmm,hmm,hmm,hm,hmmm,hm,hm,hmm....this is me humming because I cannot recall the words that go here. Who do you say I am? Who do you say I am? You are the Christ. You are the Lord. You are the Holy Messiah that was promised to us from days of old. You are the Christ. You are the Lord. You are the holy Messiah and it's You alone that I adore. So I put it to you dear friends....Who do YOU say Jesus is? Deb "Since the love of God is an artesian well, we should love our neighbors from the well, and not from a bucket."- Douglas Wilson
