New on the Site This Week:Psalms 119 -The Secret to a Happy Life Psalm 119:3-4 Walk In His Ways Psalm 119:5-6 We Cannot Keep What We do Not Have Catch up with what is happening in my quilt studio this week. Enjoy some free fall quilt patterns I have come across on the web. Interesting finds around the Web:Is the American Church Really Dying?- We are hearing that more and more, but I tend to agree with the Ed Stetzer on this one. There is starting to be a cost to calling oneself a christian and as a result many are opting out, which will be good for the Church in the long run. I particularly like this point, "The answer is not found in waging cultural wars incessantly, or in making a theological shift to the left to pacify a culture offended by the gospel. The answer is in all of God's people, changed by the power of the gospel and propelled by love, moving into the mission field as agents of gospel transformation." Do you know the date? I thought this was a good answer to the following question: "Pastor John, I was greatly troubled in a service recently when the preacher said that unless each person could identify the specific day that they prayed "the sinner's prayer" they were not converted. He then said that if in fact they were not sure of the date, they should walk forward in the service, pray the prayer and then sign the date and time in the front of their Bibles. I feel sure I am converted but this preacher has unsettled me enormously. What are your thoughts on this?" And finally a product that I discovered quite by accident. This is an actually product, and an actual add....enjoy. They are offering a free sample if you are interested at http://www.poopourri.com/t/o20130911/home-page-free-sample/#.Ull6WVCbNXk I may have a strange sense of humor... It is homecoming this weekend so the purple and gold is out all over our campus. Looking forward to the game on Saturday. I have never been a football fan, but I do love being in the stands for home games to support those players, cheerleaders, and band members that I know. So I leave you with a taste of my favorite part of homecoming... Blessings! Deb

Can it really be October already? I do believe that as we get older time accelerates. We are starting to see hints of fall in Texas. Mind you, the daytime highs are still in the 80's and 90's but the nights are quite pleasant. Time once again to fling open windows and let in the fresh air. I have gotten a good bit done around the house this week. The library is taking shape with the bookshelves up and a new comfy chair. My quilt studio, while not in great shape is back in working order. We have an office space set up now for Ken to work comfortably at home. Our youngest son is almost moved back in so one of these days I should be able to get the camping gear out of the living room and back in the trailer (hint, hint, M if you are reading this...) This has been a week to live out being content in my circumstances and trusting God to provide-yes, the savings account has taken a hit, but I survived the breakdown of the air conditioner and made a lovely new friend in the repairman. New on the site this week: God Will Take Care of You- Philippians 4:18-20 Finale of Philippians study A hint at things to come in my quilt studio I have also continued to do some updating on the website. Hopefully everything is working as it should and is easy to navigate. I had fun choosing photos to add and thinking about how to improve things around here. Interesting finds around the web this week: Christians and Social Media- Kevin Halloran posts some very good questions for us to consider about how we use social media. Letting God Fill My Empty Places -Renee Swope at Proverbs 31 ministries hits the nail on the head with this one. The Happy Zombie has a tutorial for making the magic hourglass block- I love the photo she shared and I also love her tagline..."Unsupervised and armed with really, really sharp sewing needles." Gay over at Sentimental Stitches shared this great tutorial for making these pumpkin pincushions. And finally, the geek in me is very excited about this new series over at Christ and PopCulture. Happy Friday! Deb |
