Scripture: Deal bountifully with Your servant, That I may live and keep Your word. Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law. Psalm 119:17-18 (NASB 1995) Observation: -We are servants of the Lord -When the Lord opens our eyes we can see wonderful things in His word. -Our lives are dependent upon God- we cannot live according to HIs word without His amazing grace I miss living in a part of the country where the fall harvest is a bustle of activity. There is an air of excitement at harvest time. It is time to gather in the bounty that will see us through the coming months. This passage is not a promise, nor even a hope that God will bless us with material possessions. I cannot help but think of Christ when I read that line...deal bountifully with Your servant. I am reminded of Ephesians 1:3. If you want to understand how bountifully God has dealt with us then read Paul's letter to the Ephesians. He has blessed us with every spritual blessing.... I live because Christ lives in me (Galatians 2:20.) I am not out here trying to live life on my own. I do not have to wonder what the Lord requires of me. It is all laid out in His precious word. Christians also have the Holy Spirit and part of His work according to Jesus is to teach us all things, John 14:26. And oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge God- Romans 11:33. Most people go through life with their eyes closed to these things. What a precious gift we have been given. What a precious gift we have to share with the world. Many people take the words from the Bible and try to fit them into their own world view. That is not the way to approach the Scriptures. As servants of the Lord it is our job to see things through our Master's eyes. To live life according to His plan. God has dealt bountifully with us who have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He has given us His Spirit to help us along the way. Like the psalmist, my prayer this morning is for eyes to be opened to see the wonderful things God has for me in His word. Grace, Peace, and Mercy, Deb
