Daily Bible Reading Day 248The Lord of creation is Lord of my life! Psalm 33 leaves no doubt.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. -Psalm 33:6-9 Now that is power. Just a word is all it took for the Lord to bring everything into existance. No wonder people spend their lives trying to understand how God did it. Sadly, in our efforts to understand we spend more time focused on the creation than on the Creator. I believe what the Bible says. I believe God when He says in His Word that He created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. (Exodus 20:11) I prefer a God who did it mightily in six days rather than over millions and billions of years. I think it lessens what the Lord accomplished when we try to fit man's ideas about how the world evolved into our picture of God. For me, it wasn't so much a Big Bang as a Big Voice-The Lord spoke and it all came into being. That is a God I can trust to keep me safe and secure from whatever alarms me. Talk about sovereign. Later in the Psalm, God tells us that it is not great armies or human strength that can save. God alone is our great hope for salvation. Why would we look anywhere else than to this mighty God who is sovereign over all of creation? Grace, Peace, and Mercy, Deb
