Little Bo Peep Sew Along-Corner Sheep

1/10/2020

Picture
I know some of you have been having a very warm January so far.  This week we have had snow and it is in our forecast for the foreseable future.  It may have been slow in coming but it looks like it might finally be here.

There is something delightful about sitting down with  handwork by the fire and having a warm cuppa  coffee too.   So I have enjoyed working on my little sheep this week.  I am again using my Apliquick tools to prepare them.
Picture
You can either trace the pattern onto the fabric squares or just pin them in place using a light source for the layout. You will first stitch all of the white parts onto the block and then the black heads get added last.  Just like with the smaller ones we did on the main part of the quilt I found I preferred a dab of glue to hold the ears down rather than a pin.

Once they are all appliqued it is time to trim them to size.
Picture
Since I gave a quarter inch extra in the pattern pieces for the sheep bodies
I am just lining up my ruler at the corner of the sheep to trim these to size
 and square them up.
Picture
How nice they look all trimmed and ready for next week.

I didn't make any NY Resolutions! But I did decide I would organize my sewing room sometime in January. Still not there, because I have two quilts to finish first. One is done! It may be February. LOL

This New Year of 2020 I am using as a time for working with God for healing, so I can do things for Him, and myself! Because I want to get back in the game.

Love the sheep. I have heard of the Apliquick technique, but have not tried it yet. It sounds like it would make life easier. Thanks

Debra

Thank you, Bonnie. It really does simplify the process for me.

Hi Debra
I’m loving your quilt.....those sheep❤️
Just getting settled in to home after being away for over a month, getting organized and keeping up with my blog.
I did get sidetracked by the need to try my winnings, the set of Appliquick Tools. One of my goals this year is to get over my fear of appliqué. I did it! A first project done and I am so impressed with how easy the Appliquick tools make turned edge appliqué! Thanks again for that amazing prize,

Debra

My resolutions- try to use my stash (I reallylike to just look at it and save it for retirement), buy fabric only in absolute necessity, it has to be only for a small project and absolutely gorgeous.

Debra
1/17/2020 08:12:20 am

Lol. You gave me a laugh with the comment about saving it for retirement. I am determined to work with just my stash as much as possible this year as well..
