Birthdays are kind of low-key around here since the boys are no longer at home. Not even a cake this year. As my husband is fond of pointing out, we have become calorie friendly habitats-so my waist at least is happy about that. He did take me out camping at my request and nearby is my favorite stop for maple bars...homemade goodness from a quaint little country store. I guess since I did not actually have a birthday cake I made myself one to enjoy whenever I want and it is calorie free too! I made a little Mug Rug to celebrate my day, and my gift to you is to offer it free of charge until September 30th. Just click on the photo below to get your copy. (My patterns are now available at Craftsy too for those that have trouble with the website shopping cart. Get the pattern in Craftsy.) I have had this box of Wonder Clips sitting in my drawer for a couple of years-I picked them up on sale during Breast Cancer Awareness month a couple of years ago-maybe they will be offering a special deal on them again, as October is the month for this. They are rather pricey otherwise. For some reason I remembered them as I was getting ready to stitch the back of the binding on this Mug Rug-oh why have I tarried!!! These worked great for holding the binding in place-even holding my mitered corners; which made it much easier to stitch them down. I did find a cheaper version on "The Zon" (Amazon) which has gotten very good reviews. I cannot attest to these myself, but for the price they just might be worth a try-and you get 100 in a little tin (which at the time of this post was $8.99.) Click on the photo for more info. It won't be long until the next release of my current Block of the Month, it is coming October 1st! Hmmm...I wonder what October's snowperson will be up to? In the meantime I hope you enjoy the little Mug Rug.
