I was looking up descriptive words that begin with a T and decided to celebrate little triumphs today. Those steps that are bringing me closer to my goals. Another fun day that started with my 30 Minutes of Freedom Challenge to get my sewing battery recharged. I am just not one who likes a lot of repetition and when you are making 36 blocks at a time that is hard to get away from. I handle it by working with 6 blocks at a time. I sew the next "log" onto six blocks, take them to the ironing table, and then check my measurements after they are pressed. Then back to the machine for six more...this fits into my multi-tasking plan as I get more excercise this way too, lol. Image by Ben Kerckx from Pixabay I also put in some time on my Just Desserts BOM. I am working on the setting for my blocks. Today I played around with the placement of my blocks. I stood back and looked and then took a photo so I could get a better sense of the whole in a smaller view than what my eye provides trying to look at the layout of all of those 12 1/2 inch blocks on my design wall. I started by just randomly placing the blocks then stood back to see how my balance of reds in the quilt looked. You can see how red tends to pop out from the other colors. So I did some rearranging. Still not happy, and now I see that my blues and yellows are not well distributed either. Yellow is the other color that will try to dominate so I want it well distributed throughout my quilt as well. Play a little more... I'm starting to like it, but the bottom two rows are really bothering me. I like how the yellow and blues are spread out more now, but I continue to play. At least with having taken a photo I can always see how to put things back if I decide this is it. Still nothing set in stone, I like the bottom two options the best so far. I will now start adding my sashing strips and then probably take a look at them all again to finally see how I want this to play out. Oh, sometimes I just need to squash the perfectionist in me and be happy. I hope you have had a Triumphant Tuesday too!

Can't wait to see how we will be finishing up our just deserts blocks. Loved this quilt.

Me too, April. This one has just been so much fun to plan each month. 1/28/2020 11:17:59 pm
I like the last two the best, as well. It's hard to get everything in balance. Those two are close, though.

I always just have to come to a point where I decide it is just fine and "let it go." But I know I will be playing with it until the very end, seeking that perfect combination that sings to my soul, lol. Comments are closed.
