It snowed! We woke up to a beautiful morning. I am one of those who loves the snow. It was hard to pull myself away from the kitchen table view this morning. After a little quiet time it was off to the quilt studio for my 30 Minutes of Freedom. Let me start by saying that last night was one of those nights that I did not sleep well. So I was up for a couple of hours praying for all of you who regularly have sleep issues. I must confess-I did not spend much of my time praying for you-I was mostly just annoyed about being awake, lol. All that to say I may not have been at my best. So let me start by sharing an important tip. When using one of those square rulers that is, say, 6.5" x 6 .5" it is very important to use the right edge of it when cutting your pieces to size. I happily went along cutting my pieces 1.5" x 3" and took them over to my sewing machine to join them to my log cabin blocks. I was shocked that they were too long. All 36 of them! And while I was puzzling over that with my ruler the lightbulb went off. So a little more trimming and I managed to get all of the next pieces added to my blocks. Yay me! The rest of my morning was spent working on my Bo Peep quilt, finishing up those corner sheep. I usually spend a large chunk of the afternoon writing patterns, designing patterns, answering emails, etc. and whoosh! The day was at an end and I had a husband who fixed me dinner (because I got busy and lost track of time-oh goodness, he's such a good sport. Before I wrap up this post, I want to share that if you sign up for either my newsletter or the blog updates you will get a free copy of the pattern for the block. It is just the block at this time as it is a pattern in process, but the rest will come later in the year. As usual I go into detail in the pattern so you can sew along with me. And don't worry if you are already a newsletter or blog subscriber-I will be sending you a copy too. (Sign up options are on the right hand side of the website on this page.) Happy Quilting!

I keep trying to do really scrappy and the "control" side of me always kicks in. One of these days I will throw caution to the wind! 1/10/2020 08:44:39 pm
That's why I don't use a ruler like that! LOL I use a 7 inch ruler which alternates pink and green lines, so I haven't gotten confused in the years I've used it. I need to buy my third one, because eventually (years), I nibble away at the corner with the rotary cutter. LOL

I like the sound of your ruler, Susan. I was just noticing I need to replace mine for the same reason. Comments are closed.
