I remember the first time I saw a Magnolia tree. Growing up in the northwest I was not really familiar with them. Then I met and married my southern born husband. You may have caught by now that we are often fascinated by the small things. So when we came upon a blooming Magnolia in our travels we stopped and enjoyed it for quite some time. Have you ever had a child come to you with a handful of dandelions and present them to you as a treasured gift? That is how my husband was that day with this tree, which was putting on a lovely show. Now you might think today's block is named Magnolia, but no, I have led you a little astray here. The Magnolia is the state flower of the state today's block is named for. As I was looking for a color scheme to use for this block I could not find state colors, but instead used colors inspired by that Magnolia tree. Have you figured it out yet? Block 44 is named Mississippi. This block goes together pretty quickly. Remember when sewing those corner squares to sew just to the outside of the drawn line rather than right on top of it.
