It is a bright, sunny day here in Southern Oregon and I guess I am in the mood for some color. Bold and bright seemed to be what this block was calling for. Block 43 is Color Wheel. This is very similar to the block I did for Day 18: Card Trick. To keep everything straight I made use of my Scrabble tiles once again. They were helpful in keeping track of what was what after sewing the Split Quarter-square Triangles together as well. I just made one of those Split QST's at a time so as not to get the combinations confused. It all looks pretty strange at this point. But once all is laid out the pattern emerges. This block just brightened my day and I am getting much more comfortable working with those triangles. The frugal person in me struggled with the the idea of not using all of the fabric I had cut out as I only needed one of each size triangle. I have saved the extras just in case I decide to use them for something else. Of course I could also make some more blocks with the leftovers. I could also just acknowledge that the amount of waste is pretty minimal and let them go.
You will want to have the General Instructions Sheet handy for this block. It can be found, along with the pdf pattern, by clicking on the link below: Passing the Days pdf patterns I wish you a bright, cheery day and Happy Quilting!! 4/28/2020 07:41:44 pm
Two lovely blocks, my favorites so far. I would love to make either one for a single-block-design quilt.

Yes, either of those two blocks (41 and 42) would be wonderful as a single block design. I am actually finding that this project is inspiring me to use some that way. My wish list keeps getting longer.

Hmm, not sure how I mixed up the two posts! But that comment was actually for the one previous. LOL This post comment was that those colors come together nicely and make a great color wheel. I'm going to use some of these blocks you've done with an 8-yr-old I am helping make a block a month in rainbow colors. Green is next!

Thanks for clearing that up, Susan, lol. What a wonderful way to involve a youngster in quilting. I would very much like to see what you do together when it is done so feel free to send me a photo. Comments are closed.
