30 days. They say it takes 30 days to develop a new habit. Maybe I should make better use of my next 30 days. I have the feeling that this routine will still be with us. There are some new habits I am going to be working on, mainly dealing with time management and organization. I like the word organization much better than saying I am going to try and be neater. Today's block is Jacob's Ladder. I have seen this one around over the years but never made one until. It has some possibilities I have enjoyed playing with today. There are several variations of this block I think I will do later on as well. Today, I just looked at all 29 blocks on my design wall and choose a color that has not appeared very much yet. Two color quilts are such and eash and dramatic color scheme to work with. I decided I did not want to cut out a bunch of 1 1/2" little squares and then sew them together so used the strip piecing method to make it go a little faster. Once my strips were sewn together I just used my ruler to cut out 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangles. The I joined them together to make my four-patch units. I like how well these units lay when I fan the seams rather than pressing to one side. I do have to watch which direction all of these pieces face in odrer to get the ladder pattern to show up. I have been slowly working through The Flock blocks that Joan Ford has been designing. These have been a challenge to get the seams to match perfectly, but I keep getting better as I go. I need to find a way to display the finished blocks while decide what to do with them. They are a nice little break from my normal work projects. I have to make the bird blocks when I am fully awake, lol. Joan Ford does a great job of taking these blocks and making them very doable. It has certainly increased my accuracy! Comments are closed.
