A little blast from the past from my first visit to San Francisco a few years back. I suppose I could say this is where my story began...my parents met in San Francisco during WW2 when they were both stationed there. The name of today's block is Golden Gate, which made me immediately think of this bridge. I looked through my fabric scraps for some water and a color that would be as close the bridge as I could get. For this block I used the strip piecing method. This is good practice for an accurate 1/4" seam allowance and sewing straight seams/ If all is well with my seam allowance then the middle of the strip set will measure 1/2" and the total width of the strip set will be 2 1/2". I then cut the four squares I needed to size from the strip sets. The rest of this block goes together quite quickly as well. To get your copy visit my page at: Passing the Days Thank you to those who took the time to write me yesterday. Oh, you have no idea how it has made my heart sing today. Each message was a special contact with the outside world so let me encourage you today to reach out to someone else in the same way. You can be a light right where you are and I am sure there are others out there who just need someone to let them know that they are not alone.
I do hope you all have a blessed day! Happy Quilting!!!

Hi Debra: I’ve been enjoying reading your posts. I’m not sewing along with you, but I did print copies of two of your pdf’s — the cup or chalice and the cross. I’m thinking of making a banner. I’ll likely have to design my own bread block. Have one or two or ten things on the go just now so it will have to wait a bit!

My parents were in California when they met, but I think Sacramento ... not too far away. =) That's a great looking block.

Not far at all. I have always liked hearing how couples met. Comments are closed.
