There is a reason I have not been posting many quilt pics lately...a picture is worth a thousand words. The state of my studio is just not conducive. Doing a major overhaul of some things around here and hopefully I will be able to give you a tour when all is done. It is hard to be motivated when just opening the door of the studio seems to make me tired-it does not invite me in to work right now and I am not happy about that. The antique quilt on the chair will soon be ready for the frame. I am marking the top of this Spider Web quilt, not my favorite part of the process, so it takes longer than it probably should. This quilt belongs to a sweet friend of mine and was hand-pieced so it just called to be hand quilted. I am looking forward to having a quilt in the floor frame that Ken and I built when I first started quilting and everything was done by hand. It had some spills on in that were making it rather difficult to work with- too stiff in places from whatever had been spilled. So I sweated over the decision for a few days, did a little research, went against the majority opinion and washed the top. Very carefully, mind you. I filled a large tub with warm water and a little squirt of baby shampoo and just let it soak for several hours. After rinsing and laying flat to dry it looked so much brighter and the only stiffness was from the wash/dry process so marking is going much better now. Now I am hoping y'all will help keep me on task! Hap 12/13/2018 06:21:02 pm
You may be working in a messy place right now, but every result you will get from all your efforts will be worth it. Quilting is quite difficult, specially if you don't have a knowledge about it. But once you have mastered every little thing you want to do, the process would be easier than the first time you did it. It's normal to work in a messy place because the materials you are using are all over, and you need to get used to it. What you need to be after off is the fact that you made a creative and well-designed product afterwards! 9/22/2019 07:41:23 pm
