The day turned cold on Tuesday. We went from a 70 degree Monday to a 40 degree Tuesday. Ken moved my pots inside as a hard freeze hit that night. Fall came for a brief visit to Texas but it will be in the 80's again by this weekend. The cold snap has led to some color change and that got me thinking about fall quilts. While I will not be starting any of these this year I enjoyed window shopping for more free patterns to share with you. Enjoy! Falling Leaves by Hoffman Fabrics Autumn Vines This is a pattern at freepatterns.com. They require membership to download the patterns, but that is free as well. Piecemakers is offering this one for free. Being on the lookout for applique leaves of all sorts this is a good resource. The page also has several other free patterns they are making available from their archives. Harvest Windfall by Piecemakers. I found the pattern for their 2002 Times and Seasons Calendar last year that had the patterns to make the tree quilt pictured below. I do not know if I will ever get around to making my own version of this beauty but it certainly is a treat to see. Taking it a stitch at a time,
Deb I recently discovered Erin Russek's site One Piece at a Time. I have already garnered so much from reading her blog posts and tutorials. So is very generous with sharing her patterns as she goes as well. She is doing a free video Quilt Along with McCalls quilting. There are eleven lessons planned and you can find everything you need to join in the fun at: http://www.mccallsquilting.com/FancyFlowers I gave it a little thought, took a deep breath, and decided to give it a whirl with the hopes of improving upon my applique skills. The first lesson's assignment is to go shopping for the fabrics to be used. I will start by shopping in the closet where my stash is located and let you know what I come up with. Taking life a stitch at time, Deb So many freebies so little time! Enjoy this weeks inspiration and free patterns from around the web. I found this great tutorial for the table runner I just have to share. Visit Addy Lou Creates for her wonderful directions. Christmas Cheer Tree Table Runner I have gotten several requests to email this pattern. It is very popular. Please note, it is not my pattern, I am sharing the link here where you can download it from the designer. http://www.addyloucreates.com/handmade-christmas-cheer-tree-table-runnertutorial/ I love this pattern for the tree skirt. Do not think I am up to the challenge this year, but.... It is a pattern designed by RaNae Merrill that first appeared in American Quilter's November 2010 issue and now the pattern is available to download for free. Did I mention I love it! The website requires you to join in order to access the pattern, but membership is free. With all the baking we do this time of year I thought I would present you with an oven mitt pattern I found. I have not made any quilted potholders yet, but keep seeing patterns that catch my attention. Another for the list of "one of these days." Next time I am at a quilt shop I need to remember to pick up some Insul-Bright. I think these could make a cute gift with a wooden spoon and a recipe tucked inside. (And what a great stash-buster too.) You will need to join the website to access the free patterns, but again, membership is free. Taking it a stitch at a time,
