This was the first time I had a chance to really put some new scissors I purchased last spring to the test. These are Karen Kay Buckley's Perfect Scissors and they are perfect. These scissors have a serrated blade. I will never use anything else again for cutting tiny pieces for applique projects. These scissors are sharp! To the tip. They really do grip the fabric in a way that regular scissors do not. I have lot's of intricate cuts to make with this quilt and I am much happier with how these are handling the job. Added bonus, my fingers fit into the large handles very comfortably, not all squished like my old ones, and with my somewhat arthritic fingers that is a very good thing. The handles are rather squishy too instead of hard plastic or metal which also aid in making these the most comfortable scissors I own. (I am not being payed in any way to recommend these.)
Now back to the quilt. I finished block thirteen!
I do not know if I will ever tackle a McKenna Ryan quilt again. I enjoy working on the blocks, I love her patterns, but I am NOT looking forward to quilting it. That has been my big drawback to sticking with this one. How in the world to quilt it?
Now time to admire the fabrics for Block 14 before I get back to tracing and cutting. Ooh, purples and gold...
