An interesting week here in Texas. We went from the upper 70's to days that left us feeling frozen solid. Today we are enjoying temps back in the 70's with snow possible again this weekend. No wonder I have caught a cold! That being said I offer you some links to free quilt patterns that run the gammet of the seasons- be it winter or spring. Winter Wonderland. This is a free pattern offered by Kaaren Johnston. You can visit her website at The Painted Quilt. The directions for this wallhaning can be found on Janome's website. It is called Keep the Heart Truth Growing and was designed by Jane Spoler. The instructions can be found here and there is a link there to download the applique pattern. I am often inspired by Geta Grama in her Romanian Quilt Studio. She has several free patterns for personal use I think you might enjoy as well. For all of her free patterns click here. I have found a very useful tool for saving/printing these patterns. It turns any webpage into an pdf, eamil, or print version. The link is PrintFriendly. I have found it so useful that I have placed the button on my search bar, but you can also just bookmark it and copy and paste the webpage code to get a printable version of almost any webpage. Happy Stitching! Deb Today I thought I would share three of my favorite quilters with you. This quilt is Love You to the Moon and Back by Pat Sloan. I love Pat Sloan. She is a wonderful quilter, teacher, and blogger. She offers several free patterns on her website, inlcuding this one. I am sure will enjoy checking them out. And consider signing up for her blog or joining her forums- she is just so inspirational and encouraging to every single quilter on her site. Kim Diehl is another one of my go to designers. I love her blog as well, such a fun lady to listen to and be inspired by. She has a page on her site called Good Clean Fun where she shares free project patterns, recipes, tips, and her favorite quilt tools. I love Kim's style which is reflected in this photo. This is not one of her free projects, just a peak at the work she does and the way she displays her quilts. Another quilter who has had an influence on me is Alex Anderson. I have learned a lot from her in the past couple of years and even found a new love...redwork. For her free applique pattern The Grape Escape click here. For the free Redwork pattern from Alex for this pillow click here. I hope you enjoy visiting my Quilting "friends." If the links or downloads do not work please let me know. They worked for me when I tried them, but if at some point they are no longer available I would appreciate knowing so that I can keep this page up to date.
The question for today: Applique or piecing? Leave me a comment so I can get to know you better. Taking life one stitch at a time, Deb A couple of projects have caught my attention this week. The first is a stained-glass style bluebird. The second is a Block of the Month for 2014. Tiffany Bluebird- this one is a reprint from American Quilter Society. I have toyed with stain glass patterns before. They have fabric suggestions for doing this one with silk charmeuse From Head to Toe-A Knitter's Gifts-2014 BOM-This is a free BOM offered by Denise Russart that will start February 15th. She has very strict rules that you agree to abide by-the patterns are available for a limited time and if you miss them that is it. She does some really nice work and we do not want to annoy her to the point where she will not continue to be so generous, so be sure and read through her guidelines. Hope you enjoy and Happy Quilting!
